Job summary

Leonardo DRS in Danbury, CT is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Technician to provide technical support to engineers on complex components, devices and assemblies, using drawings, operation sheets and specifications.

You will perform electro-mechanical assembly, diagnose malfunctions, modify prototypes, train team members, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and help sustain production flow across departments. U.S. citizenship and active DOD clearance (or ability to obtain) required.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated decision-making and leadership capabilities.
  • Experience handling small delicate components with ESD practices.
  • Soldering and wire bonding experience a plus.
  • Safe handling of chemicals.
  • Experience with computer applications, including Access and Excel.
  • Experience with MRP a plus.
  • Good mechanical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work from complex wiring and assembly drawings, operation sheets and engineering specifications.
  • Interpret and follow SOPs and safety rules.
  • Ensure safety and regulatory compliance and maintain certifications.
  • Assist in training new team members.
  • Interface with other departments to assure efficient flow of information and materials.
  • Perform KPIs: product quality, material stock levels, and compliance outcomes.
  • Diagnose electrical or mechanical malfunctions and perform preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Modify complex electrical prototypes to correct deviations.
  • Support and reinforce the organization’s mission, values, and culture.
  • Perform electro-mechanical assembly, disassembly and rework of various electronic products and mechanical assemblies.

Job Summary

The Senior Manufacturing Technician provides technical support to engineers on complex components, devices, material, products, processes and/or equipment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Work from complex wiring and assembly drawings, operation sheets, engineering specifications and sketches and running sheets of significant complexity
  • Interpret and follow written documents such as SOPs and safety rules
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements applicable to the company in accordance with State and Federal regulations and any applicable certification required to maintain the certification
  • Assist in training new team members
  • Interface with other departments to assure efficient flow of information and materials
  • Perform Key Performance Indicators:
  • Quality of finished product (Pass/fail rates)
  • Raw material stock levels
  • Compliance outcomes
  • Diagnose cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and performs preventative and corrective maintenance
  • Modify complex electrical prototypes to correct functional deviations
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Perform electro-mechanical assembly, disassembly and rework some test and repair of various electronic products and mechanical assemblies
  • Work from complex wiring and assembly drawings, operation sheets, engineering specifications and sketches and running sheets of significant complexity
Qualifications
  • Requires an associate’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience in the field or in a related area
  • Must demonstrate strong decision-making and leadership skills.
  • Experienced handling small delicate components, using ESD practices
  • Soldering and wire bonding experience a plus.
  • Must be experienced in the safe handling of chemicals.
  • Experienced in the use of various computer applications, including Access and Excel
  • Experience with MRP a plus.
  • Must have good mechanical skills

U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
