The Opportunity
This position works out of our Plymouth, MN location, supporting the Structural Heart division.

The 2nd Shift Senior Manufacturing Supervisor will manage and be responsible for driving the process of continuous improvement and lean principles on the line, and are responsible for their shifts' performance with respect to safety, quality, on-time delivery and cost.
2nd Shift: 3:30 PM - 2 AM, Monday- Thursday (occasional Fridays)
What You’llWork On
- Provide leadership and direction to manufacturing teams, ensuring alignment with Abbott’s safety, quality, and productivity goals.
- Foster a culture of engagement, inclusion, and continuous improvement across all levels of the team.
- Lead Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, Standard Work, Visual Management, and Value Stream Mapping.
- Drive operational excellence by identifying and eliminating waste, improving flow, and enhancing team performance.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure targets are met and exceeded.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, HR) to support new product introductions, process improvements, and compliance initiatives.
- Coach and mentor supervisors and team leads, supporting their development and succession planning.
- Ensure compliance with FDA regulations, ISO 13485, and internal quality systems.
- Support internal and external audits and lead root cause investigations and CAPA implementation when necessary.
- In addition to the duties of a grade 15 supervisor, a grade 16 supervisor has demonstrated additional leadership capabilities in the area of leading the other supervisors on improvement activities and initiatives like MOS and Shingo prize preparation.
- Able to identify improvements through kaizen events and lean manufacturing tools, lead cross-functional teams to implement change including engineering, quality and R&D.
- Champion of Mangement Operations Systems, including visual management, standard work, tier meetings, key performance indicators, training, capacity, gemba walks and continuous improvement.
- Deep understanding labor absorption with the ability to translate improvements into financial outcomes
- Ownership of OpEx tools including Line Balance/Work Content, Standard Work Charts and Staffing Plans with the ability to influence improvements that may require engineering change and or impact to supply chain.
- Conduct a thorough review and analysis of the cost center spending and headcount, comparing actual figures against the budgeted amounts. Identify any variances, understand the underlying reasons for these differences, and provide insights to inform future budgeting and resource allocation decisions.
- Ensure efficient and effective production processesby overseeing daily operations, maintaining quality control, driving continuous improvement, managing the production team, and ensuring safety compliance.
- Ability to lead cross functional kaizen events and improvement projects
Required Qualifications
- High school or GED required.
- Minimum 5years experience in manufacturing operations
- Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model preferred.
- Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results.
- Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment.
- Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
- Ability to work 2nd shift hours (3:30 PM - 2 AM Monday- Thursday, occasional Fridays)
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, life sciences, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years in a regulated manufacturing environment (medical device or pharmaceutical preferred).
- 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership role with direct people management responsibilities.
- Certifications (preferred): Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
- Knowledge of:
- FDA regulations, ISO 13485, and GMP.
- Lean Manufacturing principles and tools.
- Cleanroom operations and contamination control.
- Skills:
- Proven leadership and team development capabilities.
- Strong communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strategic thinking with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

The base pay for this position is $75,300.00 – $150,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
