Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is seeking a Corporate Safety Specialist III to plan, implement, and improve safety programs across manufacturing operations. You will partner with operations, engineering, and union teams to identify risks, implement controls, and integrate safety into project activities.

The role emphasizes data-driven improvements, incident investigations, and collaboration to foster a culture of safety excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Environmental Health, Occupational Health, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience supporting occupational safety programs within manufacturing, industrial, construction, engineering, or operational environments.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, NOM, CSA, NFPA, NEC, ANSI and applicable safety regulations, standards and best practices.
• Experience supporting safety activities for capital projects, facility construction, equipment installations, process improvements, or operational readiness initiatives.
• Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies, incident investigation processes, safety management systems, and continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building with employees, leaders, contractors, and union representatives.
• Experience using safety data, metrics, and trend analysis to identify risks and drive improvements.
• Understanding of occupational health principles and injury management.

Responsibilities

• Partner with site leadership, operations, union reps, and Safety Team to support safety initiatives and site objectives.
• Build trust through visible safety support while reducing injuries and related impacts.
• Serve as safety resource for greenfield projects, ensuring safety in design, construction, and readiness.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineering, contractors, and operations on risk controls and milestones.
• Lead risk assessments, design reviews, contractor safety, startup safety reviews, and readiness evaluations.
• Coordinate safety requirements for capital projects and facility modifications.
• Participate in design reviews to identify hazards and promote safe planning.
• Support installation and commissioning through field presence and issue resolution.
• Drive safety performance via incident investigations, corrective actions, and CI initiatives.
• Work with operations, maintenance, engineering, medical staff, and union reps to improve safety and engagement.
• Support safety management systems and Life Critical Risk programs.
• Analyze safety metrics and trends to identify opportunities and inform decisions.
• Contribute to regulatory inspections, audits, and corrective action closure.
