Job description

At GE Appliances, a Haier company, we come together to make “good things, for life.” As the fastest-growing appliance company in the U.S., we’re powered by creators, thinkers and makers who believe that anything is possible and that there’s always a better way. We believe in the power of our people and in giving them the freedom to explore, discover and build good things, together. The GE Appliances philosophy, backed by three simple commitments defines the way we work, invent, create, do business, and serve our communities: we come together, we always look for a better way, and we create possibilities. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and must be able to maintain such authorization without current or future employer or school sponsorship. GE Appliances will not sponsor employment-based visas for this position now or in the future. Interested in joining us on our journey? The Senior Manufacturing Quality Engineer is responsible for driving manufacturing quality improvements, ensuring product and process reliability, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.

How You'll Create Possibilities
Manufacturing Quality and Process Improvement

Analyze manufacturing quality performance and identify opportunities to improve product quality, process capability, and operational efficiency. Monitor key quality metrics, including First Pass Yield (FPY), Cost of Quality (COQ), Service Call Rate (SCR), scrap, rework, and product damage. Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to reduce manufacturing defects, improve process consistency, and minimize quality-related costs. Partner with Operations and Engineering to identify process variation, manufacturing risks, and opportunities for improvement. Support the development and implementation of manufacturing quality standards, procedures, and control plans. Provide technical expertise to support new processes, equipment changes, and manufacturing improvements.

Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions

Lead investigations of complex manufacturing quality issues using structured problem-solving and root cause analysis methodologies. Develop and implement corrective and preventive action (CAPA) plans to address quality concerns and prevent recurrence. Coordinate containment activities and corrective actions for End-of-Line Audit (EOLA) findings, production defects, and other quality issues. Analyze internal and external quality data to identify recurring defects, emerging trends, and opportunities for preventive action. Verify the effectiveness of corrective actions and ensure sustainable improvements. Document investigation findings, corrective actions, and improvement results in accordance with established quality procedures.

Quality Systems and Process Control

Support compliance with established Quality Management System (QMS) requirements, applicable ISO standards, and company quality procedures. Develop, maintain, and improve manufacturing quality control plans, inspection procedures, and process documentation. Support manufacturing change control processes, including evaluation, validation, documentation, and implementation of process changes. Participate in risk assessments and process reviews to identify potential quality concerns before implementation. Apply statistical analysis, process capability studies, and other quality engineering tools to evaluate manufacturing performance. Promote the use of error-proofing (poka-yoke), process controls, and proactive quality tools to prevent defects.

Cost of Quality and Continuous Improvement

Identify and implement opportunities to reduce Cost of Quality (COQ), scrap, rework, and other manufacturing quality losses. Analyze quality-related costs and prioritize improvement initiatives based on operational and financial impact. Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Finance to evaluate improvement opportunities and measure results. Apply Lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and structured problem-solving techniques to improve quality performance. Support the execution of manufacturing quality objectives and continuous improvement initiatives. Track project performance and communicate measurable improvements to stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Technical Support

Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering, Supplier Quality, Field Quality, Operations, and Service to resolve manufacturing and customer quality concerns. Partner with Supplier Quality to investigate supplier-related defects and support corrective action implementation. Participate in manufacturing process changes, supplier changes, and new product introductions to ensure quality requirements are addressed. Work with Field Quality and Service teams to analyze customer concerns and identify manufacturing-related root causes. Provide technical guidance and recommendations to improve manufacturing processes, product reliability, and quality performance. Serve as a technical resource and mentor to Quality Engineers and other team members.

What You'll Bring to Our Team
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Quality Management, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of relevant education, technical training, and demonstrated manufacturing quality engineering experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing quality engineering, quality assurance, process engineering, or a related manufacturing technical role.
  • Demonstrated experience leading root cause investigations, corrective action initiatives, and manufacturing process improvements.
  • Experience with quality management systems, statistical analysis, process controls, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience working in a high-volume manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing quality engineering principles, practices, and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and structured problem-solving techniques.
  • Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, statistical process control (SPC), and process capability analysis.
