Job summary

AIDA-America Corporation in Dayton, OH seeks an experienced Cost Accountant to ensure accurate project costing and inventory valuation. Responsibilities include monthly closings, margin analysis, and collaboration with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Purchasing to support data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting and 5–7 years of general and manufacturing accounting experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP.
• Experience with MRP and integrated business systems.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases and word processing programs.
• Knowledge of foreign currency for inventory valuation and forward contracts.
• Understanding of international business terms and international accounting standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage a database of manufacturing inventory for valuation.
• Perform monthly project and service closings for income statements per AE GARM, including percentage of completion postings and in-process losses.
• Value projects for balance sheet presentation.
• Handle month-end manufacturing inventory cutoffs, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Apply AE GARM rules for obsolescence to presses, semi-finished inventory, service parts, and used presses.
• Review offsite inventory for compliance with inventory control procedures.
• Oversee year-end inventory count and assist with the yearly audit of service parts.
• Monitor inventories, installation costs, distributor commissions, and warranty activity; prepare monthly reserve analysis.
• Manage warranty cost trends by plant and product type.
• Provide product line margin analysis and variance from budget.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Production Control, and Purchasing for data analysis.
• Work with Sales Administration on project cost estimates and published pricing for quotes.
• Produce and publish monthly Backlog Forecast.
• Communicate forecast-to-actual variances for in-process and completed projects monthly.
• Coordinate with external auditors on project costing, inventory valuation, obsolescence, revenue recognition.
• Forecast and analyze labor and overhead rates in production.
• Track bookings vs budgets for After Market Solutions; investigate variances with Project Manager.
