Job description

Senior MPI Engineer - responsible for implementing and leading standardization and continuous improvement (CI) initiatives to enhance safety, service, quality, and cost within the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement standardization & CI initiatives to improve safety, service, quality or cost.
  • Provide process support of key manufacturing processes across plants.
  • Identify and lead implementation of cost takeout opportunities through waste reduction, material substitutions and equipment modifications.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects to achieve business objectives.
  • Manage and/or lead project teams delivering a minimum of $1.0MM in cost savings per year.
  • Assist in generating reporting tools and progress reporting for the assigned business area.
  • Support the divisional MPI team and Plant Engineering projects.
  • Communicate status of CI projects, including progress reports, barriers, and recommended solutions.
  • Partner in analyzing and recommending technology changes to better position the business.
  • Execute assigned CI projects and deliver metric improvements and benefits.
  • Implement process standards such as start‑up/shut‑down procedures, resignation transitions, troubleshooting techniques, resin handling, machine operating conditions, QA standards.
  • Understand and support CI methodology in all teams.
  • Coach/mentor new process engineers and train team members.
  • Engage with plant and business unit leadership on projects.
  • Generate and implement critical manufacturing technology standards and operational methods for process engineers and operators.
  • Lead process standardization efforts for safety, service, quality and cost.
  • Achieve KPI goals, cost savings, and operational efficiencies defined by plant operational metrics.
Desired Qualifications
  • 7‑10 years of professional experience in a manufacturing organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or industrial technology (preferred).
  • Training and experience in Lean methodologies, Black/Green belt, and Kaizen events.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem‑solve across a variety of business processes.
  • Thorough understanding of business processes and process improvement.
  • Exceptional analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to achieve results through teams in a diverse work group.
  • Ability to generate new ideas and innovations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and aptitude for learning additional applications.
