Job summary

Amcor is seeking a Senior MPI Engineer in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, responsible for enhancing manufacturing processes and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have 7–10 years of experience and a degree in engineering or industrial technology.

Job Description

The primary role of the Senior MPI Engineer is to implement and lead standardization and continuous improvement initiatives that improve safety, service, quality or cost. This position focuses on manufacturing process improvement and provides process expertise and support to plants, participating on and/or leading process Best Practice Teams to ensure horizontal expansion of best practices across AFNA.

  • Implementation of standardization & continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide process support of key manufacturing processes across plants
  • Identify and lead implementation of cost‑takeout opportunities through waste reduction, material substitutions and equipment modifications (plant specific or across several plants)
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects to achieve business objectives, including participation in teams within business and functional areas
  • Manage and/or lead project teams that deliver a minimum of $1.0 MM in cost savings per year
  • Assist in generating reporting tools and progress reporting for assigned business area
  • Support the divisional MPI team and Plant Engineering and Plant Departments in associated projects and teams
  • Communicate the status of CI projects, including progress reports, barriers and recommended solutions, integration with other projects or CI initiatives
  • Partner in analyzing and recommending changes in technology to better position the business
  • Execute assigned CI projects and deliver metric improvement and benefits, achieving strategic objectives and goals; identify projects that may lead to better processes, quality & savings
  • Implement process standards such as start‑up and shut‑down procedures, resign transitions, troubleshooting techniques, resin handling, machine operating conditions and QA standards
  • Support the CI methodology in all projects and teams assigned
  • Coach and mentor new process engineers and train other team members
  • Engage with plant and business unit leadership on projects
  • Generate and implement critical manufacturing technology standards of operation
  • Generate and implement critical operational methods or standard work for process engineers and operators
  • Lead process standardization efforts for safety, service, quality and cost
  • Attain KPI goals, cost savings, and other defined plant efficiencies and output
