SENIOR MANUFACTURING OPERATIONS ENGINEER

Freeform is deploying software-defined, autonomous metal 3D printing factories around the world, bringing the scalability of software to physical production. Our proprietary technology stack leverages advanced sensing, real-time controls, and data-driven learning to produce digitally-verified, flawless parts at unprecedented speed and cost. As a Senior Manufacturing Operations Engineer, you will play a key role in establishing and scaling the processes for the production of printed parts and act as a force multiplier for engineering R&D activities. We seek someone with experience in development operations/engineering who has worked in a dynamic hardware manufacturing environment. You will need a pragmatic approach to implementing lightweight and efficient processes and automation to maximize operational efficiency while enabling R&D to proceed in parallel. This is a critical role that will collaborate across every department at Freeform to transform the metal 3D printing industry.

3D printing experience is not required to succeed here—rather, we value smart, motivated, collaborative individuals who love solving hard problems and creating innovative technology!

Responsibilities

• Work cross-functionally to create and implement manufacturing operations processes for the world's first high-volume metal 3D printing factory.
• Ensure processes are lightweight, efficient, and meet production goals, customer requirements, and part delivery schedules.
• Refine and accelerate post-print processes and delivery of customer parts.
• Build, integrate, and service printing systems and new factory architecture.
• Engage proactively with engineering teams across mechanical, electrical, software, and process disciplines to improve R&D operations' pace and efficiency.
• Collaborate with business development and executive teams to develop production strategies that impress customers with speed, quality, and delivery.

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in manufacturing/engineering development operations.
• Experience working in a dynamic hardware development environment.

Nice to Have

• 7+ years of professional experience.
• Previous hands-on engineering experience.
• Experience scaling R&D operations into high-volume production.
• Experience with metal additive manufacturing.
• Experience leading manufacturing facility buildout or overseeing operations (power, gases, material storage).
• MRP/ERP implementation experience (e.g., Oracle, NetSuite).
• Strong Excel skills.
• OSHA and EHS regulation experience.

• Hawthorne, CA — a 35,000 sq ft state-of-the-art facility in Los Angeles' emerging tech ecosystem, with easy access to major freeways and close to other high-growth startups and enterprises.

Compensation

• The salary range is $100,000-$200,000, depending on experience and skills, with a wide range to accommodate different levels of seniority.
• In addition to stock options, compensation is commensurate with experience and contribution.
