Job summary

Sila is seeking a hands‑on engineer to lead operations for our pilot manufacturing line and scale core synthesis, coating, and material handling processes toward commercial production. You will own equipment concepts, CAD models, and specs while collaborating with process engineers, technicians, and external integrators.

The role requires strong mechanical design skills, track record with turnkey equipment builders, and comfort navigating ambiguity to establish scalable manufacturing platforms.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years in manufacturing (advanced degree may reduce experience).
• BS in mechanical engineering or similar field.
• Strong design principles with 3D CAD, GD&T, tolerancing.
• Independent troubleshooting, data analysis, SPC knowledge.
• Experience managing turnkey equipment builders and automation vendors.

Responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day technical support for manufacturing equipment and processes on our pilot line.
• Improve pilot line throughput, reliability, performance, and safety.
• Scale core synthesis, coating, thermal, and material handling from bench to pilot/high‑volume.
• Develop concepts, 3D CAD models, drawings, sizing calculations, and specs for custom equipment.
• Lead contract manufacturing transfers; map CTQ parameters to vendor specs and automation.
