Job summary

Firehawk Aerospace is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop and optimize manufacturing processes for rocket motor systems, collaborating with design and quality teams to ensure efficient, scalable operations.

This hands-on role requires strong manufacturing principles, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement, with exposure to DFMA, LAT, and tooling. The company offers a robust benefits package and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, or aerospace engineering.
  • 8+ years in manufacturing engineering in aerospace/defense or related industry.
  • Strong ownership mentality and ability to lead new product manufacturing design processes flow.
  • Experience with manufacturing process documentation including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and control plans.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and DFMA.
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling software (PTC Creo/Windchill or equivalent) and PLM systems like Deltek Costpoint.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance and travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and optimize integration and manufacturing processes for rocket motor systems.
  • Collaborate with design engineering teams to ensure manufacturability and provide DFMA feedback.
  • Create and maintain work instructions, process documentation, and manufacturing plans.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance production efficiency.
  • Establish LAT capability and support ongoing LAT activities.
  • Support procurement and implementation of tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for production issues.
  • Develop validation and qualification plans for new processes, equipment, and materials.
  • Collaborate with quality to ensure compliance with standards and customer requirements.
  • Support automation and advanced manufacturing technologies integration.
  • Generate KPIs and drive performance improvements.
  • Assist in proposal development as required.
  • Ensure safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance.
