Job summary

Firehawk Aerospace is pioneering additive rocket propulsion manufacturing and seeks a Staff Tooling Engineer to design tooling for production lines and R&D. You will work with hardware design, production, and quality teams to ensure safe, scalable factory operations with a hands-on approach.

The role requires deep manufacturing principles knowledge, lean/Six Sigma experience, and collaboration across cross-functional teams to improve efficiency and product quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years in manufacturing engineering or production support in defense or related industry.
• Strong experience with 3D modeling software and DFMA principles.
• Knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and machining processes.

Responsibilities

• Design tooling solutions for new production lines and R&D efforts.
• Develop design concepts using 3D modeling software and provide estimates.
• Support EH&S initiatives for safety and ergonomics.
• Lead DFMA initiatives to optimize manufacturability and efficiency.
• Create tooling documentation and work instructions.
• Collaborate with automation teams and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
• Plan for maintenance and repair of factory equipment and tooling.
