Job summary

Trillium Staffing is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer for a direct-hire, full-time role in Wheeling, IL. The position focuses on DFM, NPI, and continuous process improvements at a precision machining facility.

The candidate should have 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience in precision manufacturing, with hands-on CNC, including Swiss CNC and 5-axis work. SolidWorks CAD, GibbsCAM/Esprit CAM experience, and a preferred Bachelor’s degree are desired.

Qualifications

7+ years of mechanical engineering experience in a precision manufacturing/machining environment.
Strong hands-on ability to design processes, set up, and operate CNC equipment; 5-axis and Swiss CNC experience preferred.
Proficient in reading and interpreting complex engineering prints and CAD drawings (SolidWorks preferred).
Experience generating drawings in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
CAM Software: GibbsCAM or Esprit preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred; equivalent hands-on machining engineering experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

Support daily production through machine setup guidance, troubleshooting, and operator training.
Identify, document, and execute continuous process improvements aimed at reducing cycle times, extending tool life, improving capability, and implementing automation.
Evaluate, qualify, and launch new manufacturing equipment on the shop floor.
Collaborate with customers to recommend design and specification modifications that optimize manufacturability, improve quality, reduce lead times, and lower costs.
Communicate design revisions and updates clearly across internal production, quality, and engineering teams.
