Job summary

Ducommun Incorporated in Carson, CA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer III to determine optimal manufacturing methods for motors and resolvers, applying lean, six sigma, line balancing and Kaizen principles.

The role leads cross-functional teams, develops processes, tooling, and work instructions for new products, and trains personnel while estimating labor hours and supporting production operations with technical expertise. Base compensation is USD 110,000–130,000 per year.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
5-7 years of production environment experience, preferably with electromechanical, aerospace, and industrial applications.

Responsibilities

Create and lead continuous improvement projects utilizing lean and six sigma tools.
Lead cross functional teams to support RCCA activities on CARs and DMRs.
Lead the development of manufacturing processes, procedures, and tooling for new products.
Lead the implementation efforts for new manufacturing equipment.
Design manufacturing processes, work instructions and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, and material handling.
Train production personnel on the proper use and execution of tools, processes, and procedures.
Support production operations and personnel on technical issues.
Estimate labor hours for new and existing products.
Create and update routing information (cycle times, notes, etc.).
Communicate with customers, vendors, and suppliers on projects on technical issues as required.
Design, test, and validate tooling and fixtures.
Create data collection plans to parts and processes when necessary to understand process behavior.
