Job summary

Boston Materials is seeking a Principal Manufacturing Engineer to lead the commissioning of a high-volume line, from installation to full production readiness. You will own process windows, QC systems, and MES/SCADA integration to support a rapid ramp of Liquid Metal ZRT materials.

The role is senior, hands-on, data-driven, and requires experience moving a materials process from pre-pilot to production, partnering with equipment and process teams to ensure robust, repeatable manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Hands-on experience taking a materials-based process from development to controlled manufacturing.
• Ability to provide day-to-day engineering support to an active line.
• Set equipment parameters and specification limits for critical-to-quality characteristics.
• Experience implementing QA/QC systems from raw material to finished product.
• Experience developing equipment qualification protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ).
• Strong SPC knowledge and data-driven problem solving.
• Proficiency with Ignition/SCADA, Tulip/MES, and statistical tools.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical owner of the manufacturing process through commissioning of the high-volume line.
• Design manufacturing and material flows with robust conformity controls.
• Establish line readiness, preventive maintenance plans, SOPs, and validated process windows.
• Determine equipment parameters and design experiments for process sensitivity.
• Translate developmental processes into controlled manufacturing while preserving intent.
• Implement MES, SCADA, and SPC for real-time monitoring and traceability.
• Lead non-conformance investigations and drive corrective actions to closure.
• Drive continuous improvement of production and quality systems.
• Provide tactical engineering support and mentor engineers on process control.
