Job summary

Medtronic seeks a manufacturing-focused engineer for an on-site Memphis role focused on continuous improvement across warehousing, labor, and product flow. You will implement automation, develop long-term controls, and work with site leadership to optimize layouts and processes in a 125-person facility.

The role requires a Baccalaureate degree with 4+ years of experience (or higher degrees with corresponding experience) and expertise in lean, six sigma, SAP modules, and automation.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree and minimum 4 years of relevant experience, OR Master's with 2 years relevant experience, OR PhD with 0 years relevant experience.
• Experience with warehouse automation and simple assembly/packaging automation (robotics preferred).
• Experience with SAP engineering and warehousing modules.
• Experience with DOE, Six Sigma and statistical analysis.

Responsibilities

• Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling with a focus on automation solutions.
• Designs layout of machines within plant facilities for optimal efficiency.
• Defines sequence of operations and procedures for fabrication of tools and equipment.
• Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
• Incorporates inspection and test requirements into production plans using automated vision-based equipment.
• Assesses machinery performance and initiates corrective actions to ensure product quality.
• Develops processes applicable to statistical process control and related techniques.
• Guides engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements for optimal equipment use.
• Ensures compliance with relevant regulations.
