Job summary

Confidential Client in the Long Island, NY area is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to optimize PCB assembly, RF manufacturing and related processes. The role collaborates with Engineering, Production, Quality and Operations to improve product quality and manufacturability.

You will develop manufacturing processes, tooling, and documentation for PCBA and RF products, support prototypes, and lead RCA investigations while driving continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 4-6+ years manufacturing engineering in electronics, PCB assembly or electro-mechanical environments.
  • Strong knowledge of SMT processes, PCB assembly and RF assembly techniques.
  • Ability to read schematics, Gerber files, BOMs and CAD drawings.
  • Experience with CAD tools and ERP/MES systems; strong troubleshooting and process improvement skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop assembly procedures, work instructions, fixtures, routings and documentation.
  • Create and maintain travelers, tooling documentation and ECNs.
  • Review engineering diagrams, Gerber files and BOMs for manufacturability.
  • Support prototypes and first-article builds and transition to production.
  • Develop SMT programs, reflow profiles and panelization strategies.
  • Provide hands-on PCB/RF/electro-mechanical manufacturing support.

Manufacturing Engineer - Electronics & PCB Assembly

Confidential Client | Long Island, NY Area

A growing manufacturer of complex electronic and electro-mechanical products is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support PCB assembly, RF manufacturing, process development, and continuous improvement initiatives. This hands-on role will work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Operations teams to optimize manufacturing processes, improve product quality, and support new product introductions.

Position Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for developing manufacturing processes, assembly documentation, tooling, and production workflows for printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) and RF products. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with SMT processes, PCB assembly, manufacturing documentation, troubleshooting, and process improvement in a high-reliability manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop assembly procedures, work instructions, fixtures, production routings, and manufacturing documentation to support efficient and repeatable production.
  • Create and maintain assembly guides, travelers, tooling documentation, and engineering change records (ECNs).
  • Interpret and review engineering documentation including schematics, CAD models, Gerber files, assembly drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Support prototype and first-article builds, helping transition new products into production.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize SMT programs, reflow oven profiles, and PCB panelization strategies.
  • Provide hands-on support for PCB assembly, RF assembly, and electro-mechanical manufacturing processes.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment and production issues, coordinating with equipment vendors when required.
  • Lead root cause investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback to engineering teams to improve product quality, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Participate in cost-reduction, workflow optimization, and manufacturing process improvement projects.
  • Support equipment maintenance programs and manufacturing process validation activities.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 4-6+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in electronics, PCB assembly, or electro-mechanical manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • SMT manufacturing processes
    • PCB assembly and PCBA manufacturing
    • RF assembly techniques
    • Electro-mechanical product manufacturing
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, Gerbers, CAD files, and BOMs.
  • Experience with CAD software and ERP/MES systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience developing manufacturing documentation and production processes.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting RF, aerospace, defense, communications, or other high-reliability manufacturing industries.
  • Familiarity with cleanroom manufacturing environments.
  • Experience working in military, space, or highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of CNC machining or mechanical design principles.
  • Experience with process validation, equipment qualification, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Costpoint or similar ERP systems.

In accordance with New York salary transparency requirements, the anticipated annual base salary range for positions is: $95k-$135k annually. Actual compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated project leadership background.
