Description du poste

Location : Los Angeles, CA

Salary : $125,000 — $150,000

The Opportunity We are expanding our sewing operations and launching a brand-new embroidery department – and we’re looking for a self-directed Senior Manufacturing Engineer to partner with the Plant Manager in running the floor day-to-day. This role is the Plant Manager’s primary engineering partner and the single point of ownership for performance reporting, factory work allocation, and shop-floor systems. You will be the architect of the workflow, responsible for designing line balances from the ground up, and the person leadership trusts to run the numbers, run the systems, and push continuous improvement initiatives without being asked.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plant Partnership & Daily Ownership: Serve as the Plant Manager’s primary engineering partner bringing the data, systems, and process lens, and co-own floor performance; act as the first point of escalation for day-to-day production issues.
  • Performance Reporting: Own the full performance-reporting cycle – efficiency, labor cost, throughput, and quality – building, maintaining, and presenting the KPI dashboards leadership relies on, without requiring daily direction.
  • Work Allocation: Own the recurring decision of which styles and volume run on our floor based on capacity, cost, and delivery performance.
  • Shop Floor Control System Ownership: Administer our real-time shop floor control system end-to-end – configuration, user access, data integrity, and reporting – serving as the system’s primary owner rather than escalating issues upstream.
  • Line Optimization & Expansion: Design and implement layouts for our sewing floor; lead the workflow design and machinery integration for our embroidery department.
  • Process Engineering: Perform time studies and motion analysis to develop standardized sewing methods. Design, test and implement work aids to reduce handling and increase output. Research and propose automation ideas.
  • Strategic Line Balancing: Conduct regular line-balancing exercises to maximize throughput and set operator scheduling in partnership with the Plant Manager.
  • Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement (Kaizen): Act as the floor’s primary problem-solver – independently diagnose root causes for downtime, implement and test corrective actions in real time, and close the loop so issues get solved rather than repeatedly re-escalated.
  • Quality: Partner with the Quality team to build an in-line audit program.
Requirements
  • Education: BS in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience: 5–8+ years in apparel manufacturing or a high-complexity soft-goods environment, including direct ownership of plant performance reporting, allocation decisions, and day-to-day partnership with plant leadership.
  • Systems Ownership: Hands-on administration of a real-time shop floor control system – configuration, user management, data integrity, data analysis through partnered tools such as PowerBI.
  • Technical Skills: Mastery of MS Excel; Experience with PowerBI report creation; AutoCad LT for layout design.
  • Communication: Bilingual (English/Spanish) is strongly preferred to effectively partner with our floor team.
  • Autonomy: Demonstrated ability to operate with minimal oversight and make independent operational and sourcing decisions.
  • Mindset: You are a self-starter who doesn’t wait for a task list, and you’re comfortable resolving daily floor decisions in real time with the Plant Manager.
