Job summary

Ferrotec is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to drive production and inspection process improvements for semiconductor-related systems. You will own process development, qualification, and continuous improvement initiatives, partnering with engineering and operations teams across the globe.

Domestic and international travel, including Asia, may be required. Required is a BS in Industrial/Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering with 7+ years in manufacturing/industrial engineering, plus

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Industrial, Mechanical and/or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
  • 7+ years in manufacturing/industrial engineering including process development, quality control, production and testing.
  • Experience with semiconductor manufacturing equipment and/or contract manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of MES software and lean Six Sigma is desirable.
  • Strong communication, cross-functional collaboration and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and optimize production and inspection processes.
  • Lead process development, validation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
  • Set manufacturing standards and evaluate equipment/workforce capabilities.
  • Collaborate with global manufacturing teams and support travel to Asia as needed.
  • Maintain MES software, develop measurement methods, and support product qualification.

How You Make An Impact

The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting and optimizing manufacturing operations by designing, implementing, and improving production and inspection processes. This role ensures the effective performance of integrated systems, equipment, and personnel through process development, validation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. The engineer establishes manufacturing standards, evaluates equipment and workforce capabilities, and drives quality and operational excellence. The position supports semiconductor and other industry products, collaborates with global manufacturing teams, and may require domestic and international travel, including periodic travel to Asia.

What Success Looks Like
  • Responsible for selecting and maintaining the best material combinations to maximize quality and optimize manufacturing cost and efficiency.
  • Analyze data and use all available resources to maintain product performance and meet quality objectives.
  • Recommends manufacturing line equipment and fixtures based performing product process flow and time standards analysis studies.
  • Partner with engineering and operations teams to augment equipment qualification activities for new products and legacy equipment to increase productivity and enhance quality.
  • Maintain, implement, and administer manufacturing execution system software (MES)
  • Creating and changing manufacturing, assembly, and operation sequence instructions (OMS) for assembly process and MES software.
  • Maintain, monitor statistics, and perform detailed failure analysis of failed equipment (production and RMA)
  • Works directly with engineering, sales/customer support, technicians, and customers to perform detailed failure analysis and corrective action reports and activities.
  • Work directly with customers, outside contractors, and vendors to accomplish manufacturing and operations project objectives such as BV (Build Verification) and witness builds for new products or improvement of existing equipment.
  • Work closely with design engineering to document and resolve issues discovered during new product introduction and product release scale-up phases.
  • Assist with ongoing development of factory acceptance criteria and methods for product final testing, qualification, and quality inspection.
  • Develop machine and product measurement methods to ensure product quality and performance.
  • Works directly on quality, 6S lean, and cross-departmental projects and related tasks as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business.

What You Need To Be Successful
  • Bachelor of Science in Industrial, Mechanical and/or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial engineering role including process development, quality control / quality assurance, production, and testing.
  • Must have related experience in semiconductor manufacturing equipment and/or contract manufacturing.
  • Specific experience in robot assembly, manufacturing, and testing a plus.
  • Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems software is desired.
  • Must possess strong computer skills including Excel, Word, Microsoft Project, Visio, and PowerPoint.
  • Project management experience using Microsoft Project or similar Gantt Charts to monitor and manage task and projects status a plus.
  • The ability to work with cross-functional teams simultaneously on multiple projects is required.
  • Experience with continuous improvement, SPC methodologies, and data tools desired.
  • Knowledge or certification of Six Sigma, 6S, and lean methodologies and practices desirable.
  • Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have strong organizational skills.
