Job summary

Movement Search and Delivery in LaGrange, GA is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to drive process improvements and lead manufacturing optimization initiatives. Job description

Movement Search and Delivery is working with a rapidly-growing manufacturer in LaGrange, GA to identify and evaluate a Senior Manufacturing Engineer who can continue to grow with the organization.

What You Will Do (Overview of Responsibilities):
  • Assist production in the resolution of manufacturing problems to maintain production schedules.
  • Plan details of all new and current product projects to coincide with the scheduled dates of project implementation.
  • Analyze products, equipment specifications, and performance requirements, to determine designs, which can be produced by existing manufacturing processes. Work with the designer to resolve designs to better fit available manufacturing methods.
  • Determine the feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities considering cost, available space, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors.
  • Develop process records and supporting information for new and existing products, so that the process is controllable, and the model drawing is executed as designed.
  • Analyze test data and reports to determine if design and process meets functional and performance specifications.
  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing operations as needed.
  • Oversee and direct the design of tools, gages, and fixtures for manufacturing operations.
  • Assess manufacturability of component designs.
  • Access technical information (i.e. process records, model drawings, SOP’s, tool and fixture drawings) as needed to support manufacturing operations.
  • Continually work to develop process improvements and enhancements to maximize production and quality.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence methodologies to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve manufacturing issues through structured root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies, including 8D, Five Why, and other problem-solving tools.
  • Develop, monitor, and improve key manufacturing performance metrics including productivity, cycle time, scrap, yield, quality, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Evaluate and implement automation, robotics, advanced manufacturing technologies, and process improvements to enhance manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to manufacturing engineers, technicians, and production personnel.
  • Partner with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Product Engineering teams to ensure successful product launches and ongoing process optimization.
  • Support quality management systems and ensure compliance with all applicable manufacturing standards, specifications, and process control requirements.
  • Lead process validation activities, capability studies, and continuous monitoring efforts to ensure manufacturing processes consistently meet design requirements.
  • Direct and coordinate manufacturing in the building of prototype products.
  • Provide technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations which affect long-range plant and product engineering planning.
  • Compile and analyze operational and test data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified equipment or products. Plans and develops experimental test programs.
  • Provide technical assistance to component and tooling suppliers.
  • Compile complete engineering estimates, and write “capital appropriations requests”.
What You Need to Succeed (Desired Qualifications):
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 5 + years of manufacturing engineering experience within a precision machining.
  • Hands-on CNC & Equipment programming and installation experience.
  • Project leadership experience with the ability to work with little to no supervision within a fast-paced, rapidly growing manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of machining and metalworking principles.
  • In-depth understanding of advanced metrology and GD&T.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand supplier capability and specialties in manufacturing components and tooling to required specifications.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general, technical procedures.
  • Ability to write reports and procedures and to effectively present information to top management.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control (SPC), process capability studies, and continuous improvement methodologies.
