BAE Systems Jacksonville Ship Repair is seeking an experienced, highly motivated Senior Manufacturing Engineer to support our growing team in the company's expanding field of fabrication. The candidate will be responsible for generating detailed methods for fabricating and assembly processes, as well as establishing full scope work packets and span time estimates. This role is critical in supporting the product line by developing detailed manufacturing schedules and ensuring compliance with quality standards. The candidate will lead planning, tracking, analyzing, and reporting on project schedules of varying size and complexity. The Senior Fabrication Planner will provide key support to project and program management efforts, monitoring workflow, coordinating, tracking schedules, and identifying key project delivery risks and issues. The selected candidate will develop schedules to meet contractual requirements and will interact daily with program management team members (Project Managers, Program Managers, Craft Managers, Safety, and Quality Departments).

Responsibilities

  1. Interpret engineering/design plan requirements to develop detailed work instructions for fitting and welding fabrication.
  2. Determine manufacturing process steps required to optimize workflow across machining, assembly, welding, and quality control operations, including recommending tools and equipment upgrades.
  3. Develop document templates to standardize policies, Work Instructions, and other formats, ensuring content includes compliance requirements, best practices, and procedural instructions for production activities.
  4. Read and interpret blueprint drawings accurately.
  5. Understand and translate site capabilities into manufacturing plans.
  6. Incorporate engineering changes into manufacturing processes.
  7. Convert work packages into high-level schedules to oversee production and fabrication workflows.
  8. Establish operation sequences and lead times to meet deadlines based on production forecasts and customer specifications.
  9. Monitor production capacity, identify bottlenecks, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement solutions.
  10. Address production issues promptly and escalate long lead-time material issues for corrective actions.
  11. Track lessons learned during project execution for future improvements.
  12. Evaluate equipment and tools to enhance ergonomics and safety.
  13. Ensure compliance with safety standards and enforce safety policies.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Extensive background in construction, fabrication, packaging, outfitting of sub-assemblies, and major manufacturing units.
  • Strong ability to support manufacturing planning packages through reading, writing, and execution.
  • Deep understanding of welding procedures and fabrication design.
  • Proficiency in reading fabrication blueprints, drawings, and shipbuilding technical references.
  • Strong focus on quality and accuracy control.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to write white papers and presentations.
  • Experience applying lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and strong Excel skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Physically and medically qualified to wear required PPE.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • 8+ years with high school diploma, 6+ years with associate degree, or 4+ years with bachelor’s degree.
  • U.S. Naval shipbuilding experience is desirable.
  • Experience in production management, manufacturing, or planning.
  • Capacity planning expertise.

Pay Range

Full-Time Salary: $71,600 - $121,700

Note: Salary is based on market pay structures and candidate qualifications, including skills, education, and experience.
