Job summary

Inalfa Roof Systems is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to assist in the design or redesign of assembly lines and to generate comprehensive manufacturing process documentation to support sub-assemblies and final assemblies. The role interfaces with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Materials to optimize components and processes for cost and efficiency.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering/manufacturing field or equivalent experience.
• Experience with manufacturing process documentation and line design.
• Familiarity with IATF 16949 procedures and continuous improvement methods.

Job Title: Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Department: Product & Manufacturing Engineering

Reports To: Engineering Manager

FLSA status: Exempt

SUMMARY

Assists in the design or the re-design of all the Inalfa Roof Systems assembly lines. Generate all the required manufacturing process documentation to support both sub-assemblies and final assemblies. Direct Interface with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Materials to assist in the design of components and materials to aid in the manufacturing process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Manufacturing processes- supports the assembly lines through accurate processing methods
• Support all engineering change activities impacting the manufacturing process
• Perform balancing and labor evaluation activities
• Support all TS 16949 requirements
• Assists in the process flow of materials supporting the assembly lines
• Updates all necessary equipment and fixtures to assist manufacturing to error-proof and improve efficiencies wherever possible
• Ensure all manufacturing documentation is accurate and up to date
• Champion manufacturing cost reduction activities, including labor reduction initiatives
• Inform quality engineering of any set-up and improvement upon preventative maintenance plans
• Perform basic ergonomic analysis as required
• Support the improved efficiency & first time capability of the manufacturing process
• Perform DOE projects as necessary
• Oversee PER builds through the manufacturing process
• Oversee DFM/DFA analysis
• Support CIP activities
• Champion implementation of Kaizen activities as appropriate
• Reduce WIP
• Maintain one piece flow
• Apply theory of constraints through plant wide activities
• Participates in required meetings to voice manufacturing methods for all existing and future roof system requirements.

IATF 16949 RESPONSIBILITIES The IATF 16949 responsibilities listed below are required for this position. Other responsibilities may be added, with or without notice in writing, at any time.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (BA) from four-year college or university with emphasis on Engineering or Manufacturing related field; or eight to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Masters degree would be a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
