Job summary

Athena Ag seeks a Director of Manufacturing to lead safe, reliable production as growth continues. You’ll own safety, quality, planning, cost, equipment reliability, and team development under the COO.

The role requires a technically capable leader who balances strategic planning with hands-on problem solving. You’ll build supervisors and production teams, optimize processes, and adapt to changing demand and materials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field.
• At least 10 years of progressively responsible manufacturing experience, including 5+ years leading operations and teams.
• Experience in production planning, scheduling, capacity, staffing, and day-to-day execution amid changing demand and material availability.
• Proven Lean manufacturing, root-cause analysis and continuous improvement experience.
• Experience managing budgets, labor/operating costs, and performance metrics with corrective actions.
• Experience implementing workplace safety, SOPs, and quality systems in manufacturing.
• Experience with maintenance/troubleshooting to improve equipment reliability.
• Familiarity with ERP and data analysis to support production decisions and reporting.
• Experience hiring, coaching and developing supervisors and production staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead manufacturing operations and day-to-day production with safety, quality, service and cost in mind.
• Own production planning, scheduling, capacity, and staffing; communicate changes to downstream teams.
• Establish KPIs, analyze performance, and manage budgets and operating costs.
• Drive Lean and continuous improvement to reduce waste and boost quality and productivity.
• Collaborate with Maintenance/Engineering to improve equipment reliability.
• Hire, coach, and develop supervisors and production employees.
• Partner with Supply Chain, Quality, Distribution, Product Development, and Ops to align with business needs.
• Support capacity expansion and new equipment or lines to enable growth.
