Job summary

Matic seeks a Senior Manufacturing Design Engineer to bridge R&D and production, translating designs into scalable fixtures and equipment. You will develop assembly processes, ensure quality, and optimize workflows for high-volume home-robotics manufacturing.

You’ll design production tooling, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and partner with external manufacturers while driving process improvements and robust documentation. This role offers ownership in a fast-moving startup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of mechanical design, tooling, or equipment development for high-volume manufacturing.
• Proven ability to execute complex mechanical designs from concept to production.
• Experience with products shipped to customers.
• Strong understanding of CNC machining, injection molding, casting, welding, and assembly processes.
• Analytical skills including tolerance and root cause analysis.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks.
• Familiarity with PDM/PLM and change management.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop production fixtures, QC equipment, and tooling for assembly and testing on the line.
• Collaborate with product design, quality, and manufacturing to troubleshoot issues and support launches.
• Partner with vendors and contract manufacturers in a fast-moving startup environment.
• Perform FMEA, root-cause analyses, and drive corrective actions to recover the line.
• Prototype, fabricate, and iterate to mature concepts into manufacturable solutions.
• Test components for performance, durability, reliability, and variability.
• Create and maintain CAD models, drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
• Refine products for manufacturability and cost-effective scaling.
