Job summary

Silgan Closures in Downers Grove, IL is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to support manufacturing and financial operations. You will focus on manufacturing cost accounting, standard costing, inventory valuation, cost variance analysis, and month-end close, partnering with plant teams and controllers across locations.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting and 3–5 years of cost accounting experience in manufacturing, with strong Excel and ERP (JD Edwards) skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field.
• 3-5 years of cost accounting experience in manufacturing.
• Knowledge of cost accounting, inventory accounting and financial reporting.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably JD Edwards; Planful or similar FP&A tools.

Responsibilities

• Support manufacturing plants with costing and setup of new products and items.
• Prepare schedules and analyses for inventory valuation methods (LIFO and FIFO).
• Analyze and recommend standard cost updates and changes.
• Calculate and monitor manufacturing overhead rates and variances.
• Assist plant personnel with inventory transaction issues; support month-end close.
• Manage excess and obsolete inventory processes (SLOB/HFI accrual).
• Post journals; reconcile balance sheet accounts; ensure proper GL classifications.
