Job summary

Silgan Containers is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team, partnering with operations to drive financial accuracy in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. You’ll own cost accounting, inventory analysis, and monthly closing processes across metal procurement, freight, and manufacturing overhead.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s in Accounting and 2+ years of manufacturing or cost accounting experience, with strong Excel and ERP skills, and a proactive, collaborative mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• 2+ years of accounting experience, ideally within manufacturing accounting, inventory accounting, operations accounting, or cost accounting environments.
• Experience with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne (JDE) or similar ERP systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and reconciliation modeling.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with finance and operational teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Validate and process metal receipts while resolving pricing discrepancies, non-receipts, and purchase order variances.
• Partner with vendors and plants to resolve Advance Shipping Notification (ASN) issues.
• Support communication and issue resolution related to supplier payments and procurement discrepancies.
• Prepare and analyze metal price variances and customer pass-through reporting.
• Complete monthly journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial analysis.
• Review and investigate freight invoices and related discrepancies.
• Process mill and vendor claims and support monthly executive reporting.
• Maintain and revise standard costs for steel coils and support ongoing cost accounting initiatives.
• Support ad hoc analysis, process improvements, and cross-functional accounting projects.
