Xcimer Energy, headquartered in Denver, CO, is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Development Engineer to lead automated equipment and production processes from concept through deployment at our onsite facility.

You will own multi‑discipline projects with mechanical, electrical, controls and systems engineering partners, driving reliability, throughput, and scalable automation across hardware platforms critical to fusion energy development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years of experience in production line development
• Demonstrated experience integrating industrial robotic systems
• Strong mechanical design capability using SolidWorks, including GD&T and drawing release for automated equipment
• Experience delivering manufacturing robotics or capital equipment projects from concept through commissioning, with proficiency using tools such as Jira
• Background in manufacturing optimization using Lean principles, Six Sigma tools, and structured problem‑solving methodologies
• Experience integrating machine vision systems, sensors, and closed‑loop feedback for precision automation
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop technical specifications and collaborate effectively across disciplines
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Responsibilities

• Develop Advanced Automated Manufacturing Equipment: Lead the design and implementation of automated manufacturing systems with robotics, motion, sensing and vision technologies.
• Controls and System Integration: Support PLCs, communication protocols, and HMI; assist data acquisition and performance monitoring to improve system behavior.
• Mechanical Design and DFM Support: Create 3D CAD components and fabrication drawings; provide design-for-manufacturing feedback.
• Risk and Failure Analysis: Conduct DFMEA/PFMEA, identify risks and implement mitigations for high uptime.
• Project and Program Ownership: Plan and execute multiple projects, track milestones, manage risks, coordinate resources.
• Manufacturing Process Optimization: Analyze cycle times, material flow, ROI to improve production throughput.
• Technical Documentation and Handover: Produce schematics, BOMs, maintenance docs and troubleshooting guides.
• Safety and Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate with EHS to perform risk assessments and define safety requirements.
• Supplier and Integrator Management: Define specs, manage builds, lead testing for robots and actuated parts.
