Job summary

Exponent is seeking a Managing Scientist (Ph.D.) based in Philadelphia, PA or Burlington, MA to lead scientific and regulatory work in ecological and biological sciences. You will drive business development, manage projects, and deliver regulatory reports and expert analyses with a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires a Ph.D. in a relevant field, 7+ years of experience (4+ in consulting), and strong data, modeling, and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. required in a relevant environmental field.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience, including at least 4 years of direct consulting experience.
• Expert-level knowledge of emerging chemicals and plastics/microplastics in the environment.
• Strong understanding of scientific sampling methodologies and state-of-the-science across terrestrial, wildlife, soil, and water quality issues.
• Proven experience with data analysis, modeling, and statistics.
• Proven experience in risk assessment.
• Proven experience managing tasks of moderate scope and complexity.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple projects and deadlines, and communicate within multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic business development and client networking to grow science and engineering services related to global fate and transport of chemicals and regulatory initiatives.
• Interpret water resources and land-use activities focusing on emerging chemicals and associated products including regulations and monitoring.
• Direct and support analyses and prepare regulatory documents and expert reports.
• Synthesize technical information and prepare/review reports and presentations.
• Publish peer-reviewed work and participate in conferences and professional societies.
• Collaborate with other Exponent teams and interdisciplinary groups on projects.
