MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE

The Senior Manager, Third-Party Manufacturing – Process Development and Operations is responsible for leading a team of engineers supporting third-party manufacturing partners throughout product development, commercialization, and lifecycle management. This role ensures successful execution of process characterization and validation activities required under design controls. This role is also responsible for driving manufacturing readiness for new product introductions, line extensions, and product transfer initiatives. The position serves as a key technical liaison between internal cross-functional teams and external manufacturing partners to ensure robust, scalable, and compliant manufacturing processes. The position will ensure that products are manufactured consistently based on Abbott quality standards to meet market demands and operational targets.

This role is based out of St.Paul, MN and is an ONSITE position.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Responsible for meeting supply, headcount, financial, and cost objectives for manufacturing medical devices.
  • Operations responsibility including developing capacity models, cost models, long-range planning, and manufacturing line support.
  • Responsible for identifying and implementing year-over-year cost savings and cost reduction projects
  • Implement and maintain operational excellence program, with the goal to consistently communicate, maximize capacity, identify cost improvements, and reduce standard cost of product.
  • Liaise with functional area managers internally and at third-party manufacturers to understand their current and future product needs, develop plans, cost estimates, and schedules for integrating these needs into existing manufacturing activities.
  • Support third-party manufacturers in site transfers and line extension projects to ensure demand planning is aligned with long-range supply plan.
  • Support the ongoing development of new and existing products to ensure successful transfer through design controls and into manufacturing.
  • Work cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Clinical, Regulatory and other departments as required to develop effective processes capable of meeting quality, cost and supply chain objectives.
  • Anticipate and resolve issues and conflicts which could impact operational success.
  • Hire and retain diverse, highly-qualified staff, and provide ongoing performance feedback. Actively develop/upskill team to meet future business needs and retain talent.
  • Set goals which align to department plans and manage the execution of goals through coaching and mentoring.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • Education Level: Associate Degree (± 13 years)
  • Bachelor Degree preferred, Engineering degree preferred

Experience/Background

The base pay for this position is $129,300.00 – $258,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
