Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Sr. Manager, Manufacturing Engineering to lead and optimize activities within the Manufacturing Engineering team onsite in Temecula, CA (also Minneapolis/St.Paul, MN and Clonmel, Ireland).

The role focuses on providing engineering support to meet goals, ensuring automation, process development, qualification and cost improvements. Qualifications include a Bachelor's in a related field and 9+ years experience; a Master's is preferred.

• Bachelor's Degree (±16 years) in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Master's Degree preferred (±18 years).
• Minimum 9 years of related work experience.
• Experience supervising exempt staff and managing resources.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, coaches and develops organizational talent.
• Drives equipment standardization and platform governance.
• Directs capital equipment acquisition, installation, qualification, and commissioning.
• Leads cross-functional teams in new automated system implementations.
• Maintains compliance with FDA, BSI, EEO regulations.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Sr. Manager, ME manages activities and allocates resources within the Manufacturing Engineering team to ensure complete engineering support is provided to meet department and company goals. Coordinates manufacturing engineering department activities to ensure that equipment automation and processes are developed, qualified, validated and designed for cost improvement. Identifies areas and means to improve equipment, manufacturing processes, equipment lifecycle and product quality on existing product and processes.

This role is ONSITE and can be performed out of Temecula, CA; Minneapolis/St.Paul, MN & Clonmel, Ireland

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Recruits, coaches and develops organizational talent.

• Drives equipment standardization, technology selection, and platform governance to ensure scalability, maintainability, and long-term operational performance
• Directs capital equipment acquisition, installation, qualification, and commissioning activities, ensuring alignment with business objectives and production requirements
• Leads cross-functional teams in the implementation of new automated systems, ensuring successful validation, operator adoption, and sustained performance
• Provides direction and guidance to exempt specialists and/or supervisory staff who exercise significant latitude and independence in their assignments.
• May supervise non-exempt employees.
• Keeps the organization's vision and values at the forefront of decision making and action.
• Demonstrates effective change leadership.
• Builds strategic partnerships to further departmental and organizational objectives.
• Develops and executes organizational and operational policies that affect one or more groups by utilizing technical/professional knowledge and skills.
• Monitors compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g. compliance with FDA, BSI, EEO regulations, etc.).
• Makes decisions regarding work processes or operational plans and schedules in order to achieve department objectives.
• Develops, monitors and appropriately adjusts the annual budget for department(s).

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Bachelors Degree (± 16 years) in a related field (OR) an equivalent combination of education and work experience
• Masters Degree (± 18 years) preferred

Experience/Background

• Minimum 9 years of related work experience.
• Provides direction and monitors progress of exempt specialists and/or supervisory staff toward departmental goals.
• Monitors costs of projects and of human and material resources within a department or unit.
• Monitors company-wide indicators such as market share and profitability.
• Monitors external environment in area of technical or professional responsibility.
• Develops and/or identifies new work processes and the improved utilization of human and material resources within the assigned or related functions or groups.
• Facilitates others' participation in the continuous improvement program.
• Investigates and solves problems that impact work processes and personnel within or across units or departments.
• Develops and communicates a vision for the organizational unit assigned.

The base pay for this position is $129,300.00 – $258,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
