Job summary

JR Automation, a Hitachi Group Company, seeks a Senior Manager, Total Rewards, in a hybrid role based in Holland, MI. You will design and administer compensation, benefits, payroll, and wellness programs to attract and retain talent, ensuring compliance and market competitiveness.

Travel up to 20% for external stakeholders and program reviews. Lead a rewards team, manage vendor partnerships, and translate business needs into compelling rewards strategies to drive engagement and retention.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in HR/Business/Finance or related field.
  • 10+ years in total rewards, compensation or benefits in a complex/global org.
  • Experience leading total rewards strategy, design, and implementation at management level.
  • Strong knowledge of compensation structures, sales comp, salary surveys and equity programs.
  • Understanding of market trends and compliance requirements.
  • Analytical and data-driven with ability to turn data into insights.
  • Translate business objectives into rewards strategies to drive engagement.
  • Vendor management and cross-functional partnership experience.
  • Experience leading or developing teams in total rewards or HR ops.
  • Certification such as CCP/CBP/SHRM/HRCI preferred.

  • Ensure accurate payroll processing and regulatory compliance.
  • Use data analytics to measure program effectiveness and trends.
  • Prepare reports for HR and business leaders on rewards outcomes.
  • Communicate program value to employees and leaders.
  • Manage external vendors and consultants.
  • Support equity compensation and retention-focused rewards initiatives.
  • Lead and develop the total rewards team.

Travel Requirements:

Travel up to 20% and may include domestic and/or international customer, supplier, and JR Automation locations.


Role Overview:

The Senior Manager, Total Rewards is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of total rewards and payroll programs that align with company goals and enhance employee engagement, attraction, and retention. This role oversees key areas of compensation, benefits, payroll, wellness initiatives, and recognition programs, while ensuring programs remain competitive, compliant, and aligned with market trends and business needs.


How You’ll Make an Impact:
  • Develop and execute a total rewards strategy aligned with business and talent goals.
  • Provide insights on market trends and opportunities to strengthen total rewards programs.
  • Design, administer, and continuously improve compensation, benefits, payroll, wellness, and recognition programs.
  • Oversee salary structures, incentive plans, sales compensation, market pricing, and annual compensation reviews.
  • Conduct market analysis to support competitive pay, internal equity, and informed decision-making.
  • Partner with HR, Accounting, Finance, Operations, and Legal to support accurate payroll and total rewards administration, communication, and compliance.
  • Lead benefits administration, including health and wellness, retirement, open enrollment, COBRA, FMLA, ESTA, and 401(k) plans.
  • Oversee payroll operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing.
  • Use data analytics to evaluate program effectiveness and identify attraction, retention, and engagement trends.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for HR and business leaders on total rewards strategies and outcomes.
  • Ensure total rewards programs comply with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Communicate program value clearly to employees and leaders.
  • Manage external compensation and benefits vendors, brokers, and consultants.
  • Support equity compensation, long‑term incentive plans, and retention‑focused rewards initiatives.
  • Lead, coach, and develop team members supporting total rewards administration.

What You’ll Bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field required.
  • 10+ years of total rewards, compensation, benefits, or related HR experience, preferably in a complex or global organization.
  • Experience leading total rewards strategy, program design, and implementation at a management level.
  • Strong knowledge of compensation structures, sales compensation, salary surveys, executive compensation, equity programs, and benefits administration.
  • Deep understanding of compensation and benefits practices, market trends, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to turn data into actionable insights.
  • Ability to translate business objectives into rewards strategies that support engagement, attraction, and retention.
  • Experience managing vendors and partnering cross‑functionally with HR, Finance, Accounting, Operations, and Legal.
  • Experience leading or developing team members in total rewards, compensation, benefits, or HR operations.
  • CCP, CBP, SHRM, HRCI, or similar certification preferred.
  • Corporate payroll management experience preferred.
