Job summary

Yahoo’s Paranoids Detection Engineering Team seeks a dynamic Senior Manager to lead threat detection and response efforts. You will guide a team of detection engineers, build innovative detection logic, and collaborate with Incident Response and Insider Threat teams to identify and stop adversaries across Yahoo’s infrastructure.

You will leverage Python, SQL, ETL, ML, and cloud technologies (GCP/AWS) to scale detections and apply threat intelligence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Leadership experience in security or engineering teams.
• Proficient in Python, SQL, ETL workflows, SIEM platforms.
• Experience with statistical analysis and machine learning models.
• Cloud infrastructure experience (GCP and AWS).
• Experience with AI tools (Claude or Codex).

Responsibilities

• Shape and execute cybersecurity detection strategy with detection engineers and leadership.
• Brainstorm detections, hunt, and purple-team ideas.
• Lead hypothesis-driven research cycles and delivery commitments.
• Guide sprint process for building and deploying detections.
• Support investigations as leader of Threat Detection and Response Action Group.
• Build new systems to catch bad actors.
• Collaborate on Paranoids strategy and initiatives.
