Job summary

Genalyte, Inc. in San Diego seeks a Manager/Staff Systems Engineer to apply systems design to life science, chemistry, software and instrumentation projects.

You will bridge development teams and stakeholders to ensure a high-quality product development lifecycle and oversee portfolios spanning software and hardware. The role requires a Master’s degree in engineering, 6+ years in multi-disciplinary system design, and strong Python and documentation skills.

Qualifications

• Master's or higher degree in Engineering with training in systems, electronics, software and mechanical engineering.
• 6+ years leading architecture and design across multiple engineering disciplines; 3+ years in software product development.

Responsibilities

• Drive system-level performance for Genalyte products across hardware and software.
• Establish and refine system-level requirements with cross-functional teams.
• Provide product development leadership from concept to delivery ensuring quality, extensibility and maintainability.
• Create input/output interfaces and constraints for manufacturability, cost and risk mitigation.
• Lead creation and maintenance of requirements for software, optics, electronics, embedded and opto‑mechanical sub-systems.
• Contribute to system-level risk management and interface contracts between sub-systems.
