Job Description:

We are seeking a strategic and execution-focused Senior Manager, Supply Chain to lead end-to-end supply chain performance for our Space Electronics business unit. This role is responsible for material planning, procurement, strategic sourcing, supplier performance, inventory management, and cross-functional execution in support of high-reliability space and defense products.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in the electronics industry with familiarity in aerospace and defense or another highly regulated manufacturing environment. The candidate has a proven track record of building and optimizing disciplined supply chain processes that improve delivery, cost, quality, and scalability. This leader will partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Program Management, and Finance to ensure material availability, mitigate supply risk, and support program execution from development through production.

This position requires a hands-on leader who can balance strategic thinking with daily operational execution across a complex supplier base, long-lead materials, and demanding customer requirements. The successful candidate will be skilled at driving accountability, developing talent, and implementing the systems, processes, and operating rhythms needed to support growth in a fast-paced space electronics environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and execute the supply chain strategy for the Space Electronics business unit in alignment with business growth objectives, customer commitments, and operational priorities.
  • Collaborate with the broader Rocketdyne supply chain organization to leverage best practices, resource flexibility and process optimization in support of Rocketdyne as a whole.
  • Lead core supply chain functions including planning, procurement, strategic sourcing, inventory control, supplier management, and material readiness.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team with clear roles, strong accountability, and a culture of collaboration, urgency, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive material availability and on-time delivery performance for complex electronic assemblies, components, and long-lead commodities.
  • Partner with Program Management, Operations, Engineering, and Quality to align supply chain execution with production schedules, customer milestones, new product introduction, and program requirements.
  • Strengthen supplier performance through segmentation, scorecards, business reviews, risk management, corrective actions, and development plans.
  • Establish sourcing strategies for critical electronic components, including semiconductors, PCBs, machined parts, and specialty materials, with focus on continuity of supply, quality, and cost competitiveness.
  • Establish and track business performance metrics for the Space Electronics business unit, providing regular updates to senior leadership.
  • Lead mitigation plans for shortages, sole-source dependencies, long lead times, obsolescence, and other supply continuity risks common in aerospace and space electronics environments.
  • Support make-versus-buy decisions, capacity planning, and supply chain readiness for product transitions from development into low-rate and full-rate production.
  • Improve planning discipline, inventory accuracy, and working capital performance while maintaining high service levels and program execution.
  • Implement and reinforce standard work, management operating rhythms, KPIs, and escalation processes across the supply chain organization.
  • Use and improve ERP/MRP systems, analytics, and reporting tools to improve material visibility, forecast accuracy, shortage management, and decision-making.
  • Negotiate supplier agreements and key commercial terms to improve delivery performance, cost structure, flexibility, and long-term supplier partnerships.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Engineering to support supplier qualification, first article requirements, change control, counterfeit material prevention, and compliance with customer and regulatory standards.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or other operational excellence tools to reduce lead times, improve execution, and increase organizational scalability.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable contractual, regulatory, and quality requirements, including ITAR, AS9100, customer flow-downs, and government program expectations as applicable.

Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of progressive supply chain experience, including significant leadership responsibility in aerospace, defense, electronics, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Proven leadership experience across planning, procurement, sourcing, supplier management, inventory control, and material execution.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain challenges associated with electronics manufacturing, including long-lead components, constrained supply, lifecycle management, and obsolescence.
  • Demonstrated success improving on-time delivery, supplier performance, inventory health, material availability, and cost performance through disciplined execution.
  • Experience leading cross-functional problem-solving in support of production, program execution, and customer commitments.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate operational priorities into measurable results and scalable processes.
  • Experience working in ERP/MRP-driven environments (Deltek Costpoint preferred) and using data to manage performance and drive decisions.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence across functions and levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of aerospace quality and regulatory environments including AS9100, FAA, DoD, or ITAR requirements preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience supporting space, defense, avionics, satellite, or other high-reliability electronics products.
  • Experience managing suppliers of electronic components, PCBs, precision machined parts, and outside processing services.
  • Background in new product introduction, production ramp, and supply chain readiness for technically complex programs.
