Job summary

Marqeta is seeking an Senior Manager of Software Engineering to lead the Credit onboarding platform, driving resiliency, scale, and AI-driven automation. You will partner with Product, Data, Risk, and Compliance to deliver secure, high-availability systems.

This remote role, within the United States, offers a flexible first policy and a clear path to elevate engineering standards. You will mentor a high-performing team, shape roadmaps, and recruit top talent while owning architectural decisions

Qualifications

• 8–12+ years in engineering, including 4+ years managing senior engineers or managers.
• Experience building and scaling distributed systems in cloud-native environments, preferably AWS.
• Strong background in microservices architectures and high availability systems.
• Proven ability to operate in regulated or compliance-sensitive environments.
• Experience in fintech strongly preferred; credit domain experience a plus but not required.
• Demonstrated track record of raising engineering standards and improving execution discipline.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity while driving clarity and momentum; high personal standards and a bias toward action.

As Marqeta's Senior Manager, Software Engineering, you will lead and evolve our Credit onboarding team. This is a critical leadership role responsible for scaling the next generation of innovative credit onboarding platforms that power modern fintech experiences. You will lead the Credit onboarding engineering team responsible for building, operating, and modernizing core components of our credit platform. This role requires a leader who sets a high bar, moves with urgency, and brings clarity in complex environments. You will partner closely with Product, Data, Risk, Compliance, and Operations to define strategy, drive execution, and deliver resilient, secure, and highly available systems at scale. We work Flexible First. This role can be performed remotely anywhere in the United States. This position is for an existing vacancy.

Who You Are

• Experienced engineering leader (8–12+ years in engineering, 4+ years managing senior engineers or managers).
• Experience building and scaling distributed systems in cloud native environments, preferably AWS
• Strong background in microservices architectures and high availability systems
• Proven ability to operate in regulated or compliance sensitive environments
• Experience in fintech strongly preferred; credit domain experience is a plus but not required
• Demonstrated track record of raising engineering standards and improving execution discipline

When determining salaries, we consider several factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior experience, and work location. The new-hire base salary range for this position, reflected in CAD, is: 177,100 - 221,400. We also believe in recognizing the contributions of our people.
