Job summary

Avalo Therapeutics is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant focused on SEC reporting and technical accounting. You will lead quarterly and annual filings, coordinate cross-functional inputs, and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC rules, and SOX.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• CPA required.
• 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferred Big Four public accounting experience.
• Public company SEC reporting experience required, including preparation of Forms 10-Q, 10-K, Proxy Statements, and related disclosures.
• Biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry experience strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and SOX compliance.
• Experience preparing technical accounting memoranda and supporting external audits.
• Experience with Workiva software (Wdesk) strongly preferred.
• Experience with equity and stock-based compensation accounting and administration for stock-based compensation required and experience with Shareworks preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and filing of SEC filings, including Form 10-Q and 10-K, disclosure notes, and related schedules.
• Coordinate input from Finance, Legal, HR, and executive leadership for SEC reporting.
• Prepare quarterly and annual tax provision calculations and related disclosures.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies; support SOX compliance.
• Lead accounting for stock-based compensation and equity transactions; coordinate with HR and equity administrators.
• Assist external auditors and respond to PBC requests during reviews and audits.
