Job description

We are seeking a Sr Manager, Sales & Use Tax, to join our growing and dynamic team. You will coordinate, review, and compile all RWE Clean Energy Businesses taxes, including federal and state income taxes, state annual reports and registrations, gross receipts taxes, sales taxes, and personal property taxes. You will also assist in preparing monthly federal and state income tax provisions.

The Sr Manager, Sales & Use Tax acts as liaison with and provides guidance and responses to the parent company, RWE Clean Energy Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, tax auditors, outside tax consultants, and CPA firms as required. You must keep current with all state and federal filing requirements, including changes in the tax law and rate changes in both existing and new jurisdictions.

Responsibilities:

  • Support ASC 740 accounting for income taxes, computing monthly federal and state income tax provisions, and preparing journal entries; responsible for analyzing all tax-related accounts.
  • Responsible for tax research related to indirect taxes. Research sales tax exemptions and issue exemption certificates. Identify and implement process/system improvements.
  • Respond and act as liaison with tax consultants, internal auditors, the company’s independent external auditors, the IRS, and state auditors, as required.
  • Perform various ad hoc analyses/reports & support operations as required.
  • Assist with completing and filing monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax, gross receipts tax, and personal property tax returns.
  • Prepare proforma federal 1120 returns and various state income and franchise tax workpapers. Support and review tax returns co-sourced (prepared by) various external accounting. Assist with quarterly estimated payments and extensions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of tax experience with a solid understanding of general accounting preferred.
  • MBA/CPA/MT desirable but not required.

  • Ability to produce accurate and detailed work under pressure and on time.
  • Strives for continuous job process improvements.
  • Must be able to present information verbally and in written form clearly and precisely.
  • Knowledgeable in the area of book-to-tax differences and filing of corporate federal & state income tax returns.
  • Proficient office computer skills, such as Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Competency in OneSource OIT and OneSource OSA preferred.
  • Knowledge of the PeopleSoft system and Power Plan Provision preferred.

This position is fully remote.
