Description & Requirements

At Forvis Mazars, we view state taxes as an opportunity to save. We look for opportunities for savings in the area of state and local taxes (SALT). Our SALT team has extensive training in tax accounting, tax law, compliance, audits, and economic development benefits, and experience with tax laws in many states. Our SALT solutions apply to sales and use taxes, income, and franchise taxes, property taxes, credits and incentives, and many more thorough understandings of multi-state sales & use taxes.

How you will contribute:

  • Understanding sales & use taxes
  • Identifying optimal filing options
  • Analyzing and reviewing apportionment information
  • Consistently identifying engagement and operating opportunities for improvement and providing timely solutions and consultation
  • Understanding nexus and revenue sourcing issues
  • Managing multiple concurrent engagements without disruption or loss of control and within scheduled deadlines
  • Planning and researching tax issues
  • Managing multiple client relationships, billings, and resource needs
  • Preparing technical memorandums
  • Providing audit assistance
  • Assisting with state income tax compliance
  • Assisting in managing, developing, and coaching professional staff

We are looking for people with Forward Vision and:

  • Ability to meet the stringent deadlines of our clients
  • Understanding of client service relationships and how to utilize firm resources to provide unmatched client service to existing clients

  • Attention to detail without losing sight of the big picture

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
  • 5years or more of professional experience - public accounting experience is required, but the experience can include a combination of public accounting (tax) and/or industry
  • CPA license or J.D. or L.L.M designation preferred

Illinois Wage Transparency

Pursuant to Illinois' Equal Pay Act, the salary range displayed is for the Illinois market. The salary for this role will be based on the experience, education, and skill set of the individual for the position. Non-exempt/hourly positions will be eligible for time and half pay for employees that work over 40 hours in a workweek. Benefits are eligibility-based and could include group health plan benefits, 401(K), bonuses, profit-sharing contributions, flexible time off, and parental leave.
