Job summary

TC Energy is seeking an experienced Safety leader to oversee occupational safety and contractor safety management across its North American operations. You will lead a team of safety experts, align enterprise safety programs, and ensure regulatory and corporate standards are met.

Qualifications

• 10 years of experience in safety management.
• Post-secondary degree in a safety related discipline (process safety engineering, occupational safety, etc.).
• Minimum of 3 years leadership experience.
• Certification or accreditation in safety (CRSP, CSP, etc.) or recognized equivalent.
• Have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Excellent technical and report writing abilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to challenge status-quo to drive consensus.
• Influential leader with proficiency in human and organizational performance and culture transformation.
• Hold a valid passport and travel up to 20% for field activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and strategic direction to Safety SMEs.
• Accountable for enterprise safety requirements and contractor safety management.
• Collaborate with BU operations, Safety teams and stakeholders to align safety performance strategies.
• Set direction and standards for occupational safety programs across regions.
• Implement contractor safety management: prequalification, onboarding, assurance, and reviews.
• Drive program alignment and harmonize training, change management and communications.
• Manage team budget and personnel hiring.
• Promote a learning culture with shared organizational learnings.
• Lead safety assessments, initiatives, communities of practice and committees.
• Present safety strategies to stakeholders across TC Energy.
• Interface with regulators, contractors and industry groups to advance safety.
• Participate in investigations and corrective actions; monitor leading/lagging indicators.
• Monitor performance and steer corrective actions; align with budgeting cycles.
