Job summary

TC Energy is seeking a determined safety leader to guide a seasoned team responsible for frontline safety programs and contractor safety management across North America.

The role focuses on designing, delivering, and improving safety programs, embedding a strong safety culture, and aligning standards across regions. Candidates should bring 10+ years in safety, strong leadership, and regulatory expertise, with willingness to travel up to 20%.

Qualifications

• 10 years of experience in safety management.
• Post-secondary degree in a safety related discipline (process safety engineering, occupational safety, etc.).
• Minimum of 3 years leadership experience.
• Certification or accreditation in safety (CRSP, CSP, etc.) or recognized equivalent.
• Have and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Excellent technical and report writing abilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to challenge status-quo to drive consensus.
• Influential leader with proficiency in human and organizational performance and culture transformation.
• Hold a valid passport and travel at least 20% for field activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and strategic direction to a team of Safety subject matter experts.
• Accountable for enterprise safety requirements, strategy, and technical expertise.
• Collaborate with operations, BU Safety teams, and stakeholders on safety performance.
• Set direction and standards for occupational safety programs across regions.
• Implement contractor safety management model including prequalification and onboarding.
• Drive program alignment through training, change management, and communication.
• Oversee performance management of the Safety team and hiring.
• Promote organizational learning and shared learnings.
• Lead safety assessments, initiatives, and communities of practice.
• Present safety strategies to TC Energy leadership and external stakeholders.
• Interface with regulators, contractors, and industry groups to advance safety objectives.
• Support investigations and root-cause analyses with corrective actions.
• Monitor leading/lagging indicators and steer corrective actions.
• Manage the safety budget and align with TC Energy budgeting cycle.
