Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Analytical Chemistry or related scientific field.
• 8+ years in the pharmaceutical industry, at least 5 years in quality.
• Previous experience directly managing teams.
• Hands-on testing: Wet chemistry, HPLC, GC, UV, titrations.
• Ability to evaluate results from HPLC, GC, UV, IR and wet chemistry techniques in pharma lab.
• Working knowledge of USP, EP, and JP procedures.
• Understanding of proper aseptic technique.
• Experience reviewing/auditing Laboratory documentation.
• Excel/Word proficiency; Access a plus.
• Strong technical writing, organization and project planning skills.
• Interfaces with R&D, manufacturing, quality control, customers, regulators, and vendors.
• Maintains confidentiality of projects, test results, and data.

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily operations of Raw Materials and Microbiology lab personnel and equipment.
• Coaches and mentors chemists and microbiologists; prioritizes tasks to meet timelines.
• Ensures calibration and proper functioning of laboratory equipment.
• Develops training curriculum for staff.
• Supports investigations, deviations, and OOS/OOT results.
• Manages short and long-term strategic plans.
• Manages lab budget and safety compliance.
• Performs performance appraisals and career development.
• Participates in customer/regulatory audits.
• Collaborates with Operations, Supply Chain, Technical Services, R&D, and Regulatory Affairs.
• Mitigates risk across raw material and microbiology processes.
• Ensures compliance with safety, GMP, and company policies.
