About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Manager of Quality Engineering to lead and elevate quality operations for our complex, customized medium-voltage switchgear product lines—critical solutions powering homes, businesses, campuses, and data centers. In this role, you will oversee a team of 20–30 quality professionals, including 4 direct-report Quality Engineers, while partnering closely with operations to drive excellence, reduce quality escapes, and strengthen the bond between quality and manufacturing.

This is a high-impact leadership role requiring deep manufacturing expertise, a proven ability to manage and grow large teams, and a strategic mindset that aligns quality initiatives with business outcomes.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all quality engineering activities across customized assembly operations.
  • Oversee a 20–30 person quality team, with 4 direct reports (Quality Engineers).
  • Implement and sustain error-proofing mechanisms (Poka-Yoke) to prevent defects.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and champion continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to reduce COPQ (Cost of Poor Quality) and eliminate quality escapes.
  • Drive compliance with ISO 9001 and continuously improve QA systems and documentation.
  • Conduct internal process audits and ensure alignment with customer and industry standards.
  • Train, mentor, and develop quality team members to build a culture of accountability and growth.
  • Leverage data, KPIs, and analytics to guide decision-making and ensure alignment with business strategy.
  • Act as a strategic partner to operations—strengthening collaboration between quality and manufacturing.
Must-Haves
  • 10–15 years of progressive experience in quality leadership within manufacturing.
  • Proven success leading 20–30 person teams (or larger) with multiple direct reports.
  • Expertise in highly customized assembly environments (e.g., aerospace, large vehicles, industrial equipment).
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to coach and mentor teams in structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Proficiency with quality systems and tools (ISO 9001, FMEA, MSA, AQP).
  • Demonstrated business acumen—ability to align quality initiatives with bottom-line impact.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Growth-oriented mindset with the ability to develop and inspire teams.
Nice-to-Haves
  • Experience in a large $2B+ B2B manufacturing company.
  • Industry background in aerospace, defense, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Certifications such as Six Sigma Black/Green Belt, CQE, or CMQ.
