Tyson Foods is seeking a Sr Production Manager in the United States (Kentucky region) to lead a high-performing team in the Prepared Foods Division. You will oversee production, quality, and yields while maintaining a safe working environment and strict compliance with industry standards.

The role requires 5+ years in manufacturing, strong leadership, and the ability to manage multiple areas of plant operations in the absence of the Plant Manager.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years' related experience in manufacturing; food manufacturing preferred.
  • Must understand production processes, maintenance, shipping/receiving, sanitation, quality assurance, and safety.

As a Senior Production Manager, you can expect your day to day to include maintaining high production, quality, and yields while ensuring the safest working environment possible. This position requires an essential understanding and control of the production process, accurate record keeping, and general line maintenance and staffing. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact by overseeing our production processes and ensuring they meet the highest industry standards. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Leadership and Team Building: Build and lead a high-performing team through effective hiring, training, and retention strategies. Provide counseling and support for personal and professional issues. Educate team members on benefits, compensations, and company policies.
  • Operations Management: Guide the team in pre-shift stretches and rotate workstations throughout the shift. Ensure compliance with federal meat inspection and OSHA requirements. Maintain non-union program. Determine and recommend manpower needs. Oversee designated shift operations. Ensure all workstations are staffed before production starts.
  • Quality and Compliance: Interpret and enforce company policies. Maintain records and reports accurately. Maintain competence in housekeeping, safety, sanitation, security, and food safety. Ensure all machinery passes USDA inspection before production.
  • Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement: Solve problems effectively and follow up accordingly. Work with department heads to meet production quality and metric goals. Provide continuous education on the importance of quality.
  • Personnel Management: Manage, evaluate, and train production supervisors.
  • Safety Promotion: Promote safety daily and conduct monthly safety meetings.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: 5+ years' related experience in manufacturing. Food manufacturing experience highly preferred.
  • This position requires an essential understanding and control of the production process, maintenance, shipping/receiving, sanitation, quality assurance, accounting, safety, and material management and is responsible for entire plant operation in the absence of the Plant Manager.
  • Computer Skills: Standard computer skills.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be capable of communicating well both verbally and in writing with all levels of Team Members from hourly to upper management as well as government officials.
  • Special Skills: Leader problem solver team player.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Manage subordinate supervisors who supervise team members in the plant; carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization s policies and applicable laws; interview hire and train team members; plan assign and direct work; monitor and appraise work performance; reward coach counsel and discipline team members; address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Travel: 0-20
  • Other Requirements: Lead people by example accept and delegate responsibility display sound judgment and decision-making skills; problem solve in an efficient manner with sound follow up; strong managerial skills necessary; excellent safety and attendance records.
  • Ability to work with department heads to meet safety production and quality yields and meet goals.
  • All Tyson Team Members are responsible for safety. This includes but is not limited to personal safety and food safety.
  • This position is responsible for food safety food quality and legality.
  • Must reside in the United States.
