Tax Senior Manager – EY Private, Cross Border Center of Excellence

As an EY Private Tax Senior Manager, focusing on cross border tax needs of high net worth individuals and their entities, you will leverage your tax expertise across various topics and challenges. You’ll work with successful private clients and businesses, engaging in diverse projects that promote your career development.

Your Key Responsibilities

Manage responsibilities including technical planning, advising high net worth clients, coaching teams, and identifying additional client services.

Skills And Attributes For Success

• Apply rules related to controlled foreign corporations and passive foreign investment companies on tax returns.
• Utilize foreign tax treaties and credits.
• Experience with domestic and international tax filings (e.g., Forms 5471, 8858, 8865, 1040, etc.).
• For compliance-focused team members: prepare/review US federal/state tax returns for high net worth individuals abroad, foreign assets, or foreign nationals with US assets, including foreign info reporting.
• For advisory-focused team members: design pre-immigration tax plans, classify trusts, assist with US exit planning, FIRPTA, multi-jurisdictional inheritance, foreign reporting obligations, and prepare tax memorandums.
• Translate complex data into client-ready insights.
• Collaborate with global teams and support market opportunities.
• Build client relationships and communicate complex issues effectively.
• Stay updated on technical knowledge and world affairs.
• Identify risks and opportunities for service and process improvements.

To qualify for the role you must have

• Bachelor's degree in a related field, CPA or Bar membership, with at least 8 years of experience in professional services or tax organizations.
• Understanding of estate and wealth planning, federal and state trust income tax.
• Strong collaboration, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Experience with automated tax processing systems and legal regulations.
• Experience managing budgets and projects.

Ideally, you’ll also have

• Proven high net-worth tax planning experience.
• Experience coaching junior colleagues.
• Business development and executive presence skills.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
