Our Opportunity




We are currently seeking a Senior Manager or Principal for our BiomechanicsPractice in our Washington, DC office. Other U.S. office locations will be considered. In this role, you will work as part of multidisciplinary team of experts to solve complex engineering problems relating to human injury analyses in various environments, including automotive. This will involve evaluations of the human body's response to applied forces during crash and accident scenarios, including biomechanical accident reconstruction, assessment of human injury mechanics and injury potential, and characterization of human interaction with safety and occupant protection systems (e.g., seat belts, air bags) with consideration of potential injury mitigation. In this role, you will also work as part of a team executing consulting projects that involve the analysis of vehicle occupant protection system performance, safety assessments, and federal and state regulations. You will be expected to develop your own consulting practice and grow professionally within Exponent.






You will be responsible for




  • Managing projects from initiation to completion; communicating project updates to other team members, clients, and administrative staff; ensuring that Exponent meets its deadlines and produces exceptional work product; and identifying business development opportunities
  • Developing and growing the Biomechanics Practice
  • Attracting and developing new projects and clients
  • Maintaining and advancing strong relationships with existing clients
  • Building and leading diverse teams
  • Mentoring and developing technical staff
  • Providing project management and project budget oversight
  • Setting up and executing various test programs, including full-scale vehicle tests and component or control systems evaluations
  • Overseeing inspections, testing, and engineering analyses of vehicles, accident sites, and other evidence
  • Attracting projects to support full-time staff as well as effectively managing and developing a group of highly motivated junior consultants
  • Promoting Exponent's multidisciplinary consulting expertise and your professional reputation through activities such as publishing papers, presenting at conferences, conducting seminars or serving on expert advisory and scientific / technical committees





You will have the following skills and qualifications




  • Ph.D. in Biomechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related engineering field
  • 10+ years' experience post-graduation in human injury analyses in the automotive space
  • Ability to generate business and manage client relationships
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Prior testifying experience is ideal
  • Ability to interact with managers, engineers, non-technical personnel, and clients and present technical topics in a cogent and comprehensible manner

Compensation




Our consultants are rewarded for their technical and business contributions and have an opportunity to plan for future success and career growth. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Manager level and above total compensation includes base salary, annual bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.


The base salary range for this position is dependent on experience and capabilities, which will be assessed during the interview process.
