Job summary

Menasha Packaging in Indiana is seeking a senior operations leader to oversee daily production, drive efficiency and ensure safety and regulatory compliance. You will develop production schedules, manage staff, and partner with cross-functional teams to meet customer expectations.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree, 8+ years in corrugated manufacturing and a track record of improving safety, quality and productivity across complex facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience required.
• Experience in corrugated operations strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establishes operational strategies to assure safety, productivity, quality, customer service, sales, human capital, cost and profitability.
• Accountable for site KPIs including machine and labor efficiencies and guiding leaders to meet scorecard objectives.
• Proactively monitors site capacity and collaborates with other sites on scheduling optimization to meet on-time delivery demands.
• Conducts equipment feasibility studies and works with Finance to plan capital expenditures with payback expectations.
• Collaborates with cross-functional leaders to drive continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence.
• Prepares and manages the annual financial plan and monitors performance via forecasts and reports.
• Ensures maintenance and security of facilities, grounds, utilities and equipment.
• Provides staffing, training, employee relations and performance management guidance to the Operations function.
• Interacts with stakeholders to provide technical support and resolve order problems or complaints.
• Maintains industry knowledge by networking and reviewing professional publications.

About The Opportunity

Oversees the daily production operations and other assigned areas. Monitors operations for efficiency and safety, ensuring that all applicable regulatory requirements are met/followed. Develops production schedules to meet internal goals as well as expectations of customers. Oversees production staff, including hiring/training of personnel.

Essential Job Functions

• Establishes operational strategies to assure company objectives in the areas of safety, productivity, quality, customer service, sales, human capital, cost and profitability
• Accountable for assigned site’s key performance metrics including machine and labor efficiencies and provides guidance to departmental leaders to ensure scorecard objectives are met
• Proactively monitors site capacity and collaborates with other sites on scheduling optimization to meet internal and external customer on-time-delivery demands
• Conducts equipment feasibility studies and makes recommendations for investment; works with Finance to prepare capital expenditure plan and is accountable for payback expectations
• Collaborates with cross-functional leaders to set continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational excellence
• Prepares and manages the annual financial plan and monitors performance through forecasting and/or other company reports
• Ensures the overall maintenance and security of facilities, grounds, utilities and equipment
• Provides guidance on staffing, training, employee relations and performance management to develop and enhance the Operations function, working closely with direct reports
• Interacts with key stakeholders to provide technical support, explore new business opportunities, and/or resolve order problems or complaints
• Maintains industry, professional and technical knowledge by networking, attending industry events, and reviewing professional publications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience required
• Experience in corrugated operations strongly preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of methods, accepted practices, considerations and regulatory requirements associated with safety and protection of workers, environment and site
• Knowledge of the processes, tools and operational considerations for effective and efficient movement of goods and materials throughout the manufacturing cycle
• Knowledge of day-to-day and strategic issues, operational requirements and management of a manufacturing facility
• Knowledge of the existing and planned approaches and methods for manufacturing products or product components
• Knowledge of and ability to use and influence organization's policies, standards and procedures guiding manufacturing processes
• Ability to lead people and get results through others
• Ability to think ahead and plan over a specific time span
• Ability to establish high-performance teams and a strong team player

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Primarily works in a production and/or warehouse setting with time also spent in an office setting
• Frequent walking and standing required
• Occasional travel required
• Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
