Veeco Instruments Inc. in Beverly, MA, is seeking a Senior Manager of Manufacturing Operations to lead the IBD300 product line. The role requires directing assembly, testing, and delivery, while partnering with engineering, supply chain, and quality to meet customer commitments and business goals.

You will drive lean initiatives, improve yield, and manage staffing, budgets, and schedules to ensure on-time shipment with top quality. Expect travel and leadership of a high-performing team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, NPI, or related discipline, with 7+ years of progressive manufacturing operations leadership experience.
• Experience leading production teams in complex manufacturing environments; strong background in high-mix/low-volume capital equipment.
• Lean, Six Sigma, 8D, root cause analysis, and production quality management experience required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the manufacturing team for the IBD300 product line across sub-assembly, assembly, integration, test, and shipment readiness.
• Drive a safety-first culture and achieve product line safety goals, including zero preventable incidents.
• Partner with engineering, software, supply chain, quality, and planning to meet operational goals.
• Drive concurrent engineering to optimize design for manufacturability, servicing, and quality.
• Manage product line manufacturing plans, staffing, capacity, budget inputs, and performance metrics.
• Ensure ISO 9001 compliance and 6S in the IBD300 area; lead daily reviews and GEMBA.

Veeco is looking for a Manufacturing Operationsleaderwhobrings strongexecution, cross-functional partnership,andhands-onleadershipto support our IBD300 product line.In this role, you’ll leadthemanufacturing organization responsible forbuilding, testing, anddeliveringthe IBD300 product line, partnering closelywithProduct Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality,andService to meet customer commitmentsandbusiness objectives.The Senior Manager, Manufacturing Operations– IBD300 Product Line,reportstothe Sr. VP, Global Operations, and serves as a key member of theoperationsteam.This position requires a manufacturing leader with experience in bringing complex capital equipment to market in a high-mix/low-volume environment. The responsibilities include production, manufacturing engineering, planning, quality execution, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the manufacturing team responsible for the IBD300 product line, including sub-assembly, assembly, integration, test, and shipment readiness activities.
• Drive a safety-first culture and drive achievement of product line safety goals, including zero preventable incidents.
• Partnering with your peers (engineering, software, supply chain, quality and planning) to develop hardware, software and manufacturing processes that support operational goals (safety, quality, on time delivery, gross margin, cycle time).
• Drive concurrent engineering activities to optimize the design for: modularity, DfX (design for manufacturing, servicing, quality), first pass yield, delayed configurability, ergonomics, low-cost sourcing, etc.
• Drive product line quality performance, including in-box quality, out-of-box quality, first-pass yield, rework reduction, and effective containment of production issues.
• Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering against committed schedules, targeting on-time shipment performance of greater than 95%.
• Develop and manage product line manufacturing plans, staffing requirements, capacity needs, budget inputs, and performance metrics in alignment with business demand.
• Ensure compliance with applicable quality, safety, and operational standards, including ISO 9001 requirements and 6S expectations within the IBD300 manufacturing area.
• Build and develop a high-performing IBD300 manufacturing team through training, coaching, mentoring, performance management, and effective workforce planning.
• Establish and execute a product line productivity roadmap focused on labor efficiency, cycle time, earned hours versus burned hours, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement.
• Lead daily product line operating reviews and GEMBA activities to identify priorities, remove roadblocks, and ensure timely escalation of critical issues.
• Leadproduction-related quality investigationsand corrective actions usingstructured problem solving,8D, root causeanalysis, andshift-leftactivities.
• Execute product transition, change implementation, and manufacturing readinessplans within the product life cycle management phase-gate process.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’sdegree in Engineering,Operations Management, New Product Introduction, or a related disciplineand a minimum of 7 years ofprogressive manufacturing operations leadershipexperience, includingleadershipof production teams in a complex manufacturing environment,is required.Experience in bringing a new product to market is strongly preferred. High-mix, low-volume capital equipment manufacturing experience, including large-scale systemswithcomplex bills of material, is required. Experience withLeanmanufacturing, Value Stream Mapping, Concurrent engineering, Six Sigma, 8D, root cause analysis, and production quality management is also required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of semiconductor capital equipment is strongly preferred.
• Strong business and financial acumen with the ability to manage product line budgets, capacity, staffing, labor efficiency, and operational performance metrics.
• Technical capabilities to participate in concurrent engineering activities and design reviews.
• Practical mindset relative to manufacturability, production execution, test readiness, material availability,and business processes.
• Process-oriented, data-driven mindset for decision-making and driving quality into the product throughinternalmanufacturing, suppliers, and cross-functionalpartners.
• A dynamic leader who will possess the essential characteristics of a “can-do” attitude, integrity, competitiveness, accountability, creativity, and teamwork.
• Capable of creating, articulating,and implementing aclearmanufacturingvision and operating rhythm for the IBD300 product line.
• Demonstratedability to build and develop a high-performingproduct lineteam through assessment, recruiting, coaching, mentoring, anddevelopment.
• Design for Manufacturability (DfM) training/experience a plus.
• Experience with SAP and world-class MES systems is a plus.
• This position will require domestic travel and some international travel to support IBD300 product line needs, supplier engagement, customer commitments, or cross-site collaboration.

Salary and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $130,000-$167,000, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
