S&C Electric is seeking a dynamic individual to lead our Electrical and Mechanical Labs department as the Senior Manager – High Power Test Lab. The role focuses on ensuring smooth operations, driving laboratory excellence, and supporting a diverse team to meet customer needs and industry standards.
Job Overview
The NJC High Power Test Laboratory validates the quality and reliability of S&C’s products through comprehensive testing. The Senior Manager aligns laboratory operations with company objectives, promotes technology advancement, and elevates the lab to a world‑class facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, refine, and implement a comprehensive vision for the NJC Laboratory aligned with company goals and industry trends.
- Lead major capital projects, resource planning, and execution to enhance infrastructure and capabilities.
- Apply lean methodologies to optimize processes, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency.
- Analyze market trends and collaborate with industry partners to identify growth opportunities and technological advancements.
- Provide leadership to managers and senior contributors, establishing clear performance expectations and fostering accountability.
- Develop and oversee training and development frameworks to enhance technical skills and competencies.
- Cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders to develop tailored testing solutions.
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, and technical teams to align testing services with customer expectations.
- Develop and manage the laboratory budget, ensuring accurate resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 17025 and ISO 9001, maintaining accreditation through audits and continuous improvement.
- Enforce rigorous safety protocols for electrical testing and equipment operation.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and knowledge sharing.
- Comply with all applicable company policies and rules.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in electrical power engineering, preferably with large electrical machines.
- 5+ years of experience in a high‑voltage test facility.
- Strong understanding of high‑voltage testing, grid systems, laboratory equipment, software tools, and data analysis.
- In-depth knowledge of testing methodologies, ISO 17025, ISO 9001, and related standards.
- Experience implementing quality management systems, conducting internal audits, and driving continuous improvement.
- Ability to understand customer requirements, develop solutions, and build stakeholder relationships.
- Strong leadership skills in guiding, motivating, and delegating to deliver results.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills across all organizational levels.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and lead teams through change.
- Analytical skills to analyze data and make informed decisions.
- Current knowledge of industry trends and best practices in laboratory management.
- Financial acumen to manage budgets effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Engineering (PE) License.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
Hours & Travel
- 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday‑Friday, On‑Site.
- Occasional travel, including overnight and international trips as needed.
