Description
Every person deserves the chance to have a whole, healthy life. According to the National Diabetes Statistics Report, 38.4 million people of all ages—or 11.6% of the US population—had diabetes. Moreover, rates of diabetes and prediabetes continue to rise, disproportionately impacting some communities over others.
As advocates for health equity, the ADA strives to advance access to quality diabetes care for all people. In collaboration with local organizations, we aim to drive positive health outcomes by implementing community-centered interventions that address and remove barriers to equitable health. With an intentional focus on the rise and burden of diabetes for groups most affected, the ADA aims to raise awareness, disseminate diabetes education in a meaningful and culturally relevant way, support inclusive research, and advocate to disrupt systems that create obstacles to equitable health for all.
The American Diabetes Association seeks a Sr. Manager of Health Equity and Community Impact to help support special projects within the Health Equity Now portfolio, advancing the ADA’s Health Equity strategic vision and Bill of Rights and delivering on initiatives related to social drivers of health, prediabetes, diabetes management and care and other chronic diseases like obesity. The person in this role will be relied on as a strategic partner, thought leader, problem solver, and solutions finder. This individual will indirectly support the SVP and other Office of Health Equity (OHE) members as they engage with communities and organizations nationally and locally. Project management is a key component of the role, as well as the utilization of metrics and evaluation to help inform future project work. The person in this role will be able to think systemically. Completing work efficiently and effectively will be a norm for the person in this role.
