Job summary

Adtran is seeking a Sr. Manager – Global Inventory & Cost Accounting in Huntsville, AL to lead worldwide inventory valuation and cost accounting operations.

You will direct standard costing, inventory controls, and cost analysis for global manufacturing and supply chain activities, coordinating with Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain leadership. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.
• 8+ years of progressive cost accounting and inventory management experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, inventory valuation, and cost-of-goods sold accounting.
• Experience with ERP systems and automated cost accounting processes.
• Demonstrated leadership in managing cross-functional and international teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead global inventory valuation and cost accounting processes across multiple ERP systems.
• Oversee standard cost updates, including labor, overhead, and material rates.
• Monitor BOM cost changes, purchase price variances, and cost-of-sales fluctuations.
• Ensure accurate accounting for inventory transactions, adjustments, and intercompany transfers.
• Manage excess and obsolete inventory reserves, warranty accruals, and other cost provisions.
• Lead global cost accounting teams and ensure consistency in processes and reporting.
• Support financial close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Provide cost and inventory insights to senior leadership for strategic decisions.
• Ensure GAAP, SOX, and internal control compliance.
• Drive process improvements and system enhancements for inventory and cost accounting.
• Supervise direct reports and collaborate with international finance teams.

This role will oversee standard costing, inventory controls, and cost analysis for global manufacturing and supply chain activities. The incumbent will manage a team across domestic and international locations and collaborate closely with Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain leadership.

This position reports to the VP, Global Corporate Controller.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in cost accounting and inventory management, preferably in a global manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, inventory valuation, and cost-of-goods sold accounting.
• Experience with ERP systems and automated cost accounting processes.
• Demonstrated leadership in managing cross-functional and international teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or CMA certification preferred.
• Experience with electronic components, subcontract manufacturing, and global supply chains.
• Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and internal controls.
• Advanced Excel and financial systems proficiency. SAP preferred.
• Knowledge of IFRS is a plus.
