Job summary

Capital One invites applications for a Sr. Manager, Full-stack Engineer role in the Richmond, VA area. You will lead multiple Agile engineering teams, drive technology strategy, and mentor senior engineers to deliver large-scale, cloud-native systems.

The position requires strong leadership, broad experience across Java/Scala/Python/Go/Node.js, and deep knowledge of AWS services and containerization. A Master’s degree is preferred but not required for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or a related quantitative field.
• 6+ years in software engineering with leadership experience.
• 3+ years with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and virtualization.
• 3+ years of people management experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and teams.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to code reviews when needed.
• Collaborate with product managers to deliver cloud-based solutions.
• Drive multi-year tech roadmaps and investment priorities.
• Define and scale engineering leadership and succession plans.
• Align engineering work with enterprise goals and trade-offs.
• Oversee end-to-end design of large-scale, distributed systems.
